A lifelong love of the kitchen.
Our owner and Head Chef was born in Halkidiki, and has been cooking Crete food for longer than he remembers. He has a passion for fresh ingredients and a determination to bring authentic Crete taste to his restaurant.

“We are relatively new to Southport and only discovered this restaurant recently, since then we have visited twice both times during the current Covid pandemic. So to that first, the tables are very well spaced out, all staff are wearing face masks (and were even before it was made mandatory), and they have hand sanitiser on entry/exit and on all tables (great attention to detail). Now down to the food, in a time when travel outside of the UK is limited this really is a little taste of Greece and you'll be transported straight there. Both times we've had the meze which is just outstanding, although there was so much food it's beaten us both times! The meze includes dips such as tzatsiki, houmous, & taramasalata, a fish course with calamari & white bait etc, and meat's such as pork and bbq'd chicken plus dolomades, meatballs, & sausage!!! If you like Greek food, you'll love this place. It's a family run business so if you have chance to support it right now I'm sure they'd appreciate it. It's a new favourite for us and we will definitely return. Thanks to you all at Crete Greek Taverna for this little bit of Greece on our doorstep!”
